Home to more than 45 tribes, significant European and South Asian minorities, and a population of 28 million speaking dozens of languages, Kenya shares with its neighbors the challenges of forging a multi-ethnic, post-colonial nation.

Intensive Swahhili in Kenya is an intensive language session. Take a first or second semester language instruction in Swahili.One language course is taught over a 4-week period. focus is on language development and oral practice.

Highlights

Dr. Mohamud Jama, an economist at the University of Nairobi, directs the program. Khalif Maalim assists with the program coordination, and Kenyan faculty provide the instruction.

Homestays are an integral component of the learning experience. All students live and share most meals with homestay families.

Although excursions change from year to year, students can expect to visit a variety of sites that may include local markets and other areas around Nairobi.
