Description

Tsinghua University, located in the northwestern suburbs of Beijing, was established in 1911 on the site of a former royal garden of the Qing Dynasty. The cultivated landscape, with the Wanquan River meandering through, has inspired and motivated generations of students including eminent entrepreneurs and great statesmen. Although Tsinghua has more than 20,000 students, it has managed to retain its character and charm while promoting rigorous scholastic research. With its educational philosophy to "train students with integrity", it is truly one of the great universities of China.

* Academics / Courses of Study

All students will undertake the Chinese History and Culture course. This course includes two weekend field trips that will give students an understanding of modern China and provide an insight into many of the traditional customs and beliefs. Students then select three subjects from the following list:

- China's Role in the Global Marketplace
- Chinese-US Relations
- Chinese Foreign Policy
- Business Management
- Information Systems
- Marketing Principles
- Accounting 1
- Introductory Statistics
- Macroeconomic Principles
- Microeconomic Principles
- Business Law
- Business Analysis
- Communications for Business

More subjects will be continually added; please contact us for full listing. All courses appear on an official Tsinghua transcript. Students will be taking these courses with local Chinese students. An optional Chinese Language course (Beginners or Advanced) is available.

* Accommodation

Students will live in apartments on campus. The apartments are furnished and feature single rooms with private bathrooms, air-conditioning, television, laundry facilities, telephone and internet access. A feature of our program is an integrated housing policy, with students sharing the apartments with local Chinese students.

Highlights

Beijing originally was occupied some 500,000 years ago, so it is a city with its fair share of history. The city is huge, extending across 50 miles, but has a very well-laid-out design with the impressive Forbidden City at its center. In modern times the city has been undergoing a makeover fueled by the 2008 Olympic Games. Thanks to the newfound wealth of many Chinese, the leisure and entertainment industries are thriving with new restaurants and an abundance of shopping. Culturally, Beijing is rich with many of China's most famous landmarks such as the Temple of Heaven and Tiananmen Square in the city itself. Beijing is no longer the gray capital but provides a colorful environment in which to study.
