Description

Advanced Spanish Studies in Córdoba, Argentina is a great way to experience life at an Argentine university while immersing yourself in the local culture. This program is designed for the advanced student that has completed two semesters of intermediate college Spanish. Students will attend classes with other international students at the Universidad Nacional de Coordoba (UNC) through their international department, the Programa de Español y Cultural Latinoamericana (PECLA). In addition to living with a host family, Spanish Studies Abroad students will participate in a variety of cultural activities and excursions around Córdoba and beyond.

Córdoba, the university capital of Argentina, is popularly known as La Docta because of its rich academic tradition. This warm and inviting city offers you an ideal environment for cross-cultural immersion in Argentine society. With the Andes to the west, the Pampas to the north, and the wild beauty of Patagonia to the south, Córdoba is a crossroads for intellectual and terrestrial explorers alike.

All classes are taught in Spanish by native professors. Students are required to sign and adhere to a Spanish-only contract while on the program, and can expect to leave with improved proficiency in Spanish. Available volunteer opportunities, service learning projects and internships for qualified students allow students to more fully integrate while giving back to your host community.

Spanish Studies Abroad program fees include tuition, room & board, meals, support of the onsite Resident Director, pre-departure support, laundry, overnight and local study visits, cultural activities, orientation, health insurance, computer access, and a Spanish Studies transcript. Optional trips and activities are also available through Universidad Nacional de Córdoba's office for international students.

    Prerequisite: The successful completion of two semesters of intermediate college Spanish or the equivalent. Minimum 3.0 for overall GPA and in Spanish coursework; exceptions may be made with strong recommendations from faculty.
