Description

Based at Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ), in central Tokyo, the Intensive Japanese Language summer program is designed for undergraduates who wish to focus on Japanese language study, either at the beginning or intermediate level.

Two program tracks are available: one for absolute beginners with no prior Japanese knowledge and another for intermediate speakers. Each track is designed as a language immersion so that participants may improve their language skills rapidly over a short period of time. All students enroll in two consecutive courses, depending on their track, for a total of eight credits. Program participants must be prepared for a demanding schedule of classes, homework and mandatory field trips.

Highlights

An important component of the program is a set of field trips during which students experience the popular, cultural, natural and historical side of Tokyo and surrounding areas.

Because this program takes place during the regular summer session at TUJ, students also have the opportunity to participate in university-organized field trips and excursions that are of general interest to students of Japanese culture.
