Description

Understand geography's relationship to water, trading routes (historical and current), and religions and the struggle between Eastern and Western identities have created two very different cities. Learn how they were constructed, the role of their public spaces, and the different ways each city's future is being considered and planned.

Highlights

The program begins with 12 days in Istanbul, followed by 9 in Izmir. Each week, you will conduct collaborative research with Turkish students, and go on city research excursions and field trips. In Istanbul, Y1ld1z Technical University will provide connections with the city of Istanbul; in Izmir, Gediz University will be our host. The program will culminate with a group exhibition of student work.
