Description
The Language Center at the State University of Makassar offers Indonesian language courses for the general public. Learners can study intensively or non-intensively and start/finish at any level from beginner to advanced. Participants vary from foreigners working or studying in Indonesia to tourists looking for a crash course in language. Courses are communication focused and include optional various culture events and placements to enhance the learning experience by immersion. Teachers are local, experienced in teaching Indonesian, and capable English speakers. The Language Center also runs specialized short programs for university students from Australia and the USA who are studying in an Indonesia-related field. Credit is awarded at select universities. Whatever the reason, whatever the goal, Learners of Indonesian will find their needs met at the Language Center in Makassar, Sulawesi.

Study language in the modern port city of Makassar known for it's breathtaking sunsets, and spend your free time exploring the islands, coastal areas, and rugged mountains all a stone's throw away. Language learners will have the chance to explore traditional culture on and off the beaten path. From the sea-faring Makassar and Bugis people to the world famous mountain tribes of Toraja known for their elaborate rituals, there is no shortage of cultural and geographical wonders in South Sulawesi. The Language Center will also help organize accommodation including homestays with local families or boarding houses with complete facilities. In many cases the Language Center will assist in obtaining a study visa. Other optional parts of the program include overnight to week long excursions to rural villages, volunteer teaching placements in local schools, and trips to historical/cultural sights around Makassar.
