Description

Recent phenomena such as the emergence of the "art star," the proliferation of biennials, and the growing significance of interactive events have dramatically changed the role of the curator in recent years. This course provides an overview of these issues by examining todays most influential curators and seminal exhibitions of contemporary art from around the world, and analyzing how the business of curating has evolved over the last two decades. Fundamental curatorial skills, from writing effective proposals, and developing comprehensive exhibition plans, to identifying relevant business issues and promoting ideas through effective marketing strategies will also be reviewed.
