Description

This three-credit program is designed to educate students on Arabic language, culture and the study of Islam. The program introduces students to an in-depth and first-hand understanding Islamic culture in Morocco and presents a broad view of the socioreligious and sociopolitical issues that are shaping the Muslim world today providing students a framework for understanding the complex relationship between Islam and the West with an emphasis on cultural, linguistic and inter-religious aspects.

This course will be an introduction to and an experience with intercultural dialogue with Moroccan people and places.

Highlights

* Interactive activities with local Moroccan students and an Arabic crash course
* Multiple excursions in and around Rabat to museums, landmarks and non-profit organizations
* Three-day trip to the ancient city of Fez
* Six-day trip to the south of Morocco with two full days in Marrakech
* An overnight in the Sahara desert

The program fee includes housing/hotel accommodation, academic fees, field trips, airfare, meals, arrival, departure transfers between the airport and housing in Morocco, and sickness/accident and emergency medical evacuation insurance. Students must submit their passport to OIE five weeks before the departure date.
