Description

Culinary Art Program
This education is provided by university faculty and local experts. Credits are awarded by home institutions, or through Paul Smith College (NY) based on testing and assignments completed according to learning contracts established in advance of acceptance into the program. Marco Polo cultural programs are offered at the distinguished Professors from Università di Ferrara, Academia Barilla, Institute Restaurant and Hotel in Assisi, Ferrara and Otranto and other schools, depending on disciplines, which are government approved and recognized worldwide. Students begin their semester in Puglia with classes and local culinary experiences. The second month, they move to middle Italy in Assisi for three weeks then north to Ferrara, and they are in Parma during last 10 days in their third month. The experiential culinary program is taught and supervised by skilled, professional artisans and teachers, each one a master in their craft.

Hospitality Program
This education is provided by an instructor from the industry professionals. Credits can be awarded by home institutions or through and consortium agreement with Pauls Smith College (NY), based on testing and assignments completed according to learning contracts established in advance of acceptance into the program.

Hospitality Management includes 70 days of instruction followed by two site placement experiences. The first month is spent in Cervia or Brindisi or Otranto. Then students move to Rome and follow this with site placement in urban tourist destination in the region of Tucany. Classes are taught by an instructor with many years of teaching and site placements are supervised by industry professionals. Credits can be awarded by home institutions.

Credits or certification assigned by home institution for each program will allow students to continue their timely progress toward completion of their academic degrees.

Our programs include all costs and logistics - in country flights and transportation, lunch and dinner, student housing, tuition, internship cost, liability insurance, program costs and some materials, even bus fare within the city if needed. The students may need to obtain a Student Visa and own health insurance, depending on the program.

All of our locations, residence and Universities are in secure locations. Further we have two tutors who also act as chaperone to the group.

Our programs is not centered in on a student stays the entire semester or short program in a single location. Instead we expose them to both Southern and Northern cultures, learning and techniques.

The mission of the Marco Polo Institute is to promote Italian cultural education and tourism. The Italian states have distinctive cultures which have not all been primary sites explored by academic exchange programs. The Institute hopes to expand access to the rich culture and history of the Italian regions through a range of academic programs of study.
