Students can enroll in a broad range of courses and actively participate in university life while enjoying Interstudy organized excursions and staying connected to in country staff.
Maynooth offers the best of both worlds: a college-town atmosphere within easy reach of Ireland's bustling capital city. It has a wide selection of places to eat, drink and socialize. You'll quickly learn local student landmarks like the Roost, where you can enjoy a lively night out followed by a stop at the local chipper, Maximus. After class, stop by The Twist for coffee, or for a taste of home, try the Bagel Factory. On the weekend, head into Dublin. Whether your interest is in Viking remains, shopping for designer clothes, enjoying traditional music in a 300-year old pub, or dancing the night away in a local club, Dublin will meet and exceed your expectations. Maynooth is accessible by public transport from most parts of Ireland and is just a 30-minute train ride from Dublin city center where you'll have easy access to ferries to Britain and discount airlines offering excellent fares to Europe.
Highlights
The National University of Ireland, Maynooth is located on a pleasant campus in Ireland's only university town and has recently undergone a major phase of expansion in research, teaching and service facilities. The spacious campus is laid out in its own extensive grounds in rural surroundings, and is divided between an older complex of nineteenth century buildings and a modern complex of teaching, research, accommodation, and support facilities. Maynooth is the perfect choice if you enjoy a close-knit campus environment, but want easy access to all that Dublin has to offer.
NUI Maynooth has 26 academic Departments which are organized into three Faculties: Arts, Celtic Studies and Philosophy; Science and Engineering, and Social Sciences. As a semester or full-year visiting student you will enjoy a wide range of course options within all three Faculties. Of particular note are Maynooth's semester Certificate in Irish Studies and its full-year Diploma in Irish Studies.
NUI Maynooth has an active campus life with frequent social events sponsored by the Student Union. With options that run the gamut from camogie to kickboxing to trampolining to snooker, student-run clubs form the back-bone of the sports and recreation program at Maynooth. When it's time to rest, you'll have a single room in one of the student residences on campus and share bathroom and kitchen facilities with a mix of Irish and international students. Maynooth's mentor program will pair you with an Irish student, enabling you to integrate quickly into local Irish student culture.
