Students can enroll in a broad range of courses and actively participate in university life while enjoying Interstudy organized excursions and staying connected to in country staff.
Goldsmiths main campus lies in New Cross, a riverside borough in Southeast London, just 15 minutes by train from Central London. Around New Cross itself you'll find an eclectic mix of coffee shops, pubs and places to eat. The area is a hub of creative talent and has a thriving music scene, with places like the Amersham Arms and New Cross Inn holding acclaimed live events. If you're in the mood for something a bit cheesier, try The Venue, which hosts famed tribute nights followed by dancing until late. Less than a 10-minute walk from Goldsmiths down New Cross Road is Deptford where the high street has been voted the best in the capital for its vibrant and diverse mix of independent shops. London's major international airports at Gatwick and Heathrow can be reached within an hour by train or Underground and, through Central London, there is easy access to all parts of the country by means of the national rail network.
Highlights
Goldsmiths, University of London combines excellence in teaching and research with a distinctly innovative and creative approach to a wide range of subjects: psychologists work with computer scientists, artists with cultural theorists, musicians with anthropologists. Teaching at Goldsmiths builds on and is connected to the exciting research that takes place there. This means that, during your studies, you will be exposed to cutting-edge and exciting ideas and concepts, and will be encouraged to learn in a research-mode, acquiring the ability to pose questions as well as seek answers.
Goldsmiths encourages imagination and innovation, offering a wide variety of courses in the humanities, social sciences, performing and creative arts. Rather than passively absorbing 'information', at Goldsmiths you will be supported in critically interpreting and reflecting on different types of materials and data (texts, artifacts etc) so that you can become, in your own right, an independent, critical creator of new, exciting knowledge, ideas and professional practices. As a visiting student, you can choose as wide or narrow a combination of regular Goldsmiths subjects as you want.
Stop by Loafer's Café between classes and enjoy a fair-trade tea or coffee, or grab a hot meal at the campus refectory. The Goldsmiths Student Union provides sporting and social activities, including clubs and societies of every kind. Cultural facilities on campus include a well equipped theater, an electronic music studio, a concert hall and a recital room. You'll live on campus with British and international students in single bedrooms in self catered, co-ed residences, with either a private or shared bathroom and shared kitchen and dining areas.
