IES Abroad Santiago - Health Studies January Term
Location: Chile: Santiago
Term: Winter
Description
Ideal for students considering careers in health-related fields, this program offers you the opportunity to learn about health care policy and delivery systems in the context of Chile's community-centered public health care system. An important component of the program introduces you to historical, social, and cultural aspects of health care specific to Chile, including the treatment of illness and patients' rights.
The program consists of two course components: Clinical Observation and Survival Spanish. The primary component, Clinical Observation, allows you to observe patient care in public and private clinics. A classroom seminar provides a framework for clinical observations and analyzes themes such as efficiency, equity, and the quality of service delivery to patients. Survival Spanish is designed to help you develop Spanish language skills focusing on medical terminology.
