GSE at University of Paris IV (La Sorbonne) - French Language Summer Program

Description
GSE offers a four week French Language and Culture summer study program at the University of Paris IV (La Sorbonne) during the month of July. Students will take a placement exam and be enrolled in the appropriate level course on site. Course levels range from beginner to advanced. Language courses meet weekdays for two hours per day for a total of 40 classroom hours. In addition to language courses students will be enrolled in ten hours of phonetics laboratory which compliment language courses. The cultural component of the program is fulfilled by lectures with a focus on literature, arts, and economic and social problems in France. Cultural lectures are three days a week, three hours per day, and meet for a total of 36 classroom hours. Students may earn up to five semester credits for the completion of this four week program.

Originally founded in 1253 as a school of theology, today the Sorbonne offers courses in nearly every discipline and is spread across several campuses. GSE students will attend courses at the Sorbonne's central campus offered by the Cours de Civilisation Francaise de la Sorbonne. For over seven centuries the Sorbonne's central campus has stood in the same location of the Latin Quarter, within short walking distance of the famous Notre Dame Cathedral. This lively area is home to many local and international students and is full of bustling cafes, bars, and restaurants.
