Description
Study abroad for a semester or a year at Freie Universitat Berlin with GlobaLinks Learning Abroad, formerly known as EuroLearn. Your study abroad experience is all about you! GlobaLinks Learning Abroad is here to help you in your exploration throughout the study abroad experience. Our programs are designed so that our local and overseas staff are available 24 hours a day to support you in health and safety matters and enhance your study abroad experience. Through our planned activities and resident directors' personal recommendations for activities you can undertake while abroad, you will be directed on a path of personal, academic, cultural, social, and professional discovery. This team, which supports you throughout your experience, will ensure that you have the most fulfilling experience possible one that is unique to you!
What Will You Discover?
FU-BEST, the Berlin European Studies Program of the Freie Universitat, offers you the opportunity to develop German language skills through intensive classes, enroll in non-language academic courses in both English and German, and fully immerse yourself in dynamic and multicultural Berlin. The program will enable you to enroll for one semester or academic year in stimulating courses taught by expert faculty. You will find yourself making solid progress in your German language skills, from elementary through advanced. All students are enrolled in a minimum of 3-4 credits of German language learning. A variety of non-language courses are taught in English or German by local faculty and include such topics as cultural studies, art history, literature, the European Union, German history, German and European politics, architecture, film studies, music history, management, marketing and philosophy. Local academic field trips are an integral part of many of the courses. No previous language experience is necessary.

Highlights
Buddy Program
In order to enhance participants' German language ability and their interaction with German society, the program not only recommends the selection of a homestay as far as housing is concerned, but also offers the option of a one-on-one buddy. This is an opportunity for EuroLearn students to meet a German student each week to practice their respective languages, explore cultural differences, and to discover the best places and ways to socialize with German students.
Social and Cultural Events
The FU-BEST program offers frequent Stammtisch gatherings (get-togethers) to help students explore new areas of the city. In addition, students are encouraged to participate in a variety of social and cultural events organized by the Freie Universitat's International Club.
U.S. University Transcript option is available through our School of Record, University of Minnesota - Twin Cities.
GlobaLinks Learning Abroad offers a multi-day Bridging Cultures Program (in country). This program blends discussion, cultural exploration, and social gatherings for an informative and fun introduction to the country in which students will be living and studying abroad.
GlobaLinks Learning Abroad staff in the U.S. and abroad are available 24 hours a day for support of students, parents, and advisors. In addition to our London-based Resident Director, GlobaLinks Learning Abroad provides bilingual support staff at several of our sites in Europe to ensure that assistance is available in times of need and crisis.
