Highlights

Edinburgh has played a key role in Scottish and British history for hundreds of years. Today it is one of the UK's most popular cities. Unlike cities in the south of Britain, it survived two world wars unmarked and so escaped having its character changed by modern developments. The elegant and stylish 'new town' is a neo-classical development built between 1767 and 1830 and now houses the corporate headquarters of the banks, law firms and companies that play such an important part in modern Scottish life. Edinburgh is also the location of the new Scottish Parliament- part of the plan to give the United Kingdom a more devolved system of government. The University of Edinburgh, founded in 1582, as well as the newer Herriott Watt University, help to give the city a vibrant and dynamic academic and cultural life as well. EPA has been running internships in Edinburgh for a number of years and has built up a wide range of excellent placements. The University of Edinburgh is providing the academic courses, although students will remain registered in the USA.
