Description

Want to design and create your own 9-foot piece of textile? The DIS Textile Design in Scandinavia summer program will train you in the full design process of textile prints, from initial conceptual sketches to printing a final full-size textile. Lectures, field studies and a nine-day study tour to Sweden and Finland will introduce you to the history, theories, works and current expressions of Scandinavian design. If you are interested in the program, or any of DIS' other summer design programs, be sure to inquire soon as space is limited.

The program is designed for juniors, seniors, and graduate students majoring in studio art, fashion design, and interior design, or students with other relevant backgrounds. Previous courses in the theory and history of design are recommended.

Students will enroll in two courses, Textile Design Studio and Workshop (6 credits) and Textile Design in Scandinavia (3 credits), for a total of 9 credits.

Highlights

Students will also participate in a 9-day study tour to Sweden and Finland to study prime examples of Scandinavian textile design, architectural design, and interior design.

The program also includes a number of field study visits in Copenhagen which introduce you to prime design studios, textile factories, and examples of modern Danish design.
