Description
Participate in this one-of-a-kind experience that gives you the challenges of entrepreneurship throughout the entire semester! This comprehensive study abroad opportunity with Connect-123's semester-long Social Entrepreneurship Program at the University of Cape Town (UCT) provides hands-on work and study, as well as education and experience with the special opportunities present in emerging markets.
The program blends classroom-based and experiential learning by including a substantial fieldwork component where students work side-by-side with local social entrepreneurs which is linked with academic theory and regular mentoring sessions.
Courses are taught by UCT faculty and students receive a transcript from UCT, one of Africa's leading teaching and research institutions, which recommends 18 transfer credits for the semester. The program involves a core course, Experiencing Entrepreneurship, plus two electives - Business in Context and Entrepreneurial Strategies.
Highlights
Cape Town is rated as one of the most beautiful cities in the world and for good reason: few cities are home to white sandy beaches, scenic hiking trails, spectacular ocean views and a 1,086 metre flat-top mountain! Cape Town is also a city of sharp contrasts, where students can explore issues of social change and diversity and learn about new cultures.
For our Social Entrepreneurship program participants, South Africa offers the ideal backdrop to learning about emerging markets, innovative thinking and effective leadership. Connect-123 offers a wide range of activities to help students get the most out of their time in this vibrant and unique country.
