Description

In Bangor, Wales, you'll learn skills in problem solving, communication, teamwork, leadership and reflective thinking through experiential learning in the outdoors. Course content includes rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, raft building, rappelling, camping, mountaineering, hiking and more.

Possible complementary activities include canyoneering, coasteering, orientation/navigation, bouldering, zip wires, indoor climbing wall, and high and low level ropes courses.

Outdoor Pursuits takes place four days a week and courses are full-days adventures. Each activity is structured along a learning continuum that progresses from basic level skills, knowledge and attitudes to intermediate level in which students are challenged in more self-reliant situations.

Highlights

Bangor is situated between the Irish Sea and the Snowdonia Mountains in the hauntingly beautiful region of northwest Wales, where the highest mountain in England and Wales Snowdon is found. Snowdonia National Park, with its mountains and lakes, fast flowing rivers and rugged terrain, is famous for its outdoor pursuits opportunities.

Three excursions are included in the program fee (weather permitting):
* An outdoor experience in the beautiful Snowdonia region
* A weekend trip to Dublin, Ireland
* Visits to to medieval castles and sites of historical significance in Wales.

* Housing accommodation (residence halls at Bangor University, which include private rooms/bathrooms and a shared kitchen area)
