Highlights
Considered Chile's premiere seaside resort, Viña del Mar provides a great stepping stone to a semester or summer of Spanish language and Latin American cultural study. A short drive from Santiago, Viña del Mar is more laid-back and friendly than Santiago, Chile's capital city. Viña del Mar is conveniently situated and gives visitors easy access to Chile's many natural wonders. The country's topography ranges from the Andes Mountains and arid deserts to sandy beaches and lakes. Viña del Mar also offers easy access to Chile's many natural wonders, including the beautiful coast. Home to a large number of parks and gardens, as its reputation as the Garden City promises, the city is also known for its annual Viña del Mar International Song Festival, held in February. Hone your Spanish language skills while experiencing and absorbing all the Chilean culture has to offer through hands-on excursions to nearby Santiago, a trip into the snow or a tour of the Valparaíso Wineries and the grape harvest.
