Description
Fully engage with the culture and history of Spain in a dynamic city during this comprehensive spring quarter study abroad program. Develop an understanding of what it means to be a global citizen through courses at a top university. As the capital of Spain, Madrid is a political and financial hub, making it a fascinating location in which to study government and international relations in a larger global context.
Highlights
Known for its innovation in art and culture, Spain's capital also boasts an abundance of opportunities to engage the lifestyle of a true madrileño. Spend your days exploring Madrid's magnificent and historic architecture of the Royal Palace, Santa Cruz Palace or the Telecommunications Palace. Or check out the Temple of Debod, a 2,000-year-old gift of the Egyptian government. Enter the Triangle of Art - Prado Museum, Reina Sofía Museum and the Thyssen Museum - and study the artistic trends that have inspired so many, from classical Valasquez, Goya and El Greco, to Picasso and the most shocking vanguards, such as Miquel Barceló. When the sun goes down in Madrid, the city streets spill over with people, ready to celebrate and flood the dance floors until the wee hours of the morning. Many historical buildings on Gran via Street host most of the cinemas and theaters in town, but you can also find international designers' shops along "The Golden Mile," and rooftop bars like the Hotel ME Penthouse.
