Description
Since 1984, Comparative Women's and Gender Studies in Europe offers a unique opportunity for students to earn 16 semester credits while engaging in rigorous theoretical and methodological inquiry across Europe. The program examines the trends and dynamics of European social, economic, and political systems as they influence contemporary gender theory, feminist theory, policy, and women's identities. Students attend lectures and workshops with the program director, visiting professors from European universities, NGOs, politicians, practitioners, artists, and activists.
The program begins with a two-week orientation at the NOISE summer school where students will work closely with faculty from the European Thematic Network of Women's Studies (ATHENA). Students will then attend lectures and conduct original field research in Berlin, Germany; Krakow, Poland; Utrecht and Amsterdam, the Netherlands; Prague, Czech Republic; Istanbul, Turkey.
The application deadline is March 30, but applications are considered on a rolling basis, and late applicants will be considered on a space-available basis. Noncredit applicants need not be currently enrolled at a college.
