Description

Since AMIGOS was founded in 1965, more than 25,000 young people have participated in the Summer Program.

In the Summer Program, you will live with a host family, working with a team of 2-3 Volunteers, immersing yourself in the language and culture of your Latin American host community. With an elaborate system for safety and guidance supporting you, you and your partner(s) will have the opportunity to collaborate with your host community to develop a customized "Community-Based Initiative" project (or CBI) that will address a unique need in your community: from painting a school to building a library to laying new pipes for a clean water system. In addition to the CBI, you will work with your community towards goals based on regionally determined themes such as Gardening in Costa Rica, Environmental Health in Costa Rica, or Media and Art in Nicaragua.
