Description
Bogazici University (which means Bosphorus University) was officially established in 1971 as a Turkish public university, although its his- tory dates back to 1863, date of the foundation of Robert College, the first American College set up outside the United States. With the transfer of this institution to the Turkish state, Bo azici University became the direct heir to both the excellent facilities of Robert College and to its distinguished academic traditions.
Bo azici University has a beautiful, traditional campus which overlooks the Bosphorus and the harbor of Bebek, an exclusive summer resort in Istanbul.
The University facilities are spread over six campuses, two of which -South and North campuses- are used for the summer program. Bo azici University's high standards in education and research are acknowledged throughout the world. The academic programs are en- hanced by a strong tradition of extra-curricular activities which play an important role in campus life. Summer school provides the perfect opportunity for students to combine their individual academic program with discovering and experiencing Turkish culture, society and history through a wide range of courses and activities.
Highlights
Spend 7 weeks in this bustling city uniquely situated at the crossroads of Europe on the west and Asia on the east. Known for centuries as Constantinople, capital of the Byzantine Empire, modern Istanbul combines the heritage of its Byzantine past with the later Ottoman Empire which brought Turkey into the modern age. It is the only modern metropolis which straddles two continents, divided by the Straits of the Bosphorus. With spectacular architecture, culinary delights and outstanding museums, Istanbul is full of unmissable sights and experiences.
During your time abroad you will earn up to 4 credits taking courses in Turkish or Armenian language, history, political science or sociology. You will also have the option of taking additional courses in a wide range of disciplines at Bogazici University.
