Description

This program is designed for education majors, graduate students in education, and teachers seeking summer course work applicable to their classroom environments. Students choose from two three-week sessions or take a full six weeks of course work focusing on Spanish language, fostering biliteracy, and ESOL education. Excursions include visits to classroom environments as well as sites of cultural interest. Students live with a local Argentine family, allowing for rapid language acquisition as well as cultural immersion.

Highlights

The Rosario ESOL program is designed for education majors intending to meet requirements for certification by the state of Oregon, graduate students in education, and teachers seeking summer course work applicable to their classroom environments. You will attend classes with individuals from around the U.S. Students can choose from three program options that combine course work focusing on Spanish language, culture and community in bilingual classrooms, and fostering biliteracy in ESOL. The two three-week sessions each offer one 40-hour content course and a 40-hour Spanish language course; the Spanish course in summer II focuses on vocabulary for educators. The six-week session combines these two sessions and participants select three of the four courses. In all sessions, you will be in a classroom with U.S. students. Courses make extensive use of excursions to classroom environments as well as places of significant cultural and pedagogical interest. Courses are held Monday-Friday.
