Academic Focus:

Students studying at Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola in Lima can choose from a large number of courses, which are all taught in English. These courses are in the departments of Business Administration, Entrepreneurship and Business Development, Finance, Economics, International Business, International Relations, Environmental Management, Law, Marketing, Agro-Industrial Engineering and Agribusiness, Architecture and Urban Planning, Industrial and Commercial Engineering,Information Systems Engineering, Civil Engineering and Real Estate Development, Hospitality Management, Gastronomy and Restaurant Management, Tourism Management, Culinary Arts, Art and Design, Business Psychology, Communications and Spanish Language.

In addition to the courses taught in English, many of the courses are also taught in Spanish for those students who have an advanced level of Spanish fluency.

Curriculum: Semester students choose either 4 or 5 courses. An official transcript is issued by the Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola, a fully accredited university in Peru.

Housing: Students can choose to live with a host family, which includes 3 meals per day or in a residence hall where no meals are included.

Sample Excursions: Travel by train to Machu Picchu, the pre-Columbian Inca site that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built around 1450, it is the most familiar symbol of the Inca Empire.

The capital and largest city in Peru, Lima is located on the central western coast offering a multitude of adventures and majestic scenery to explore. Dating back 5000 years, Lima is an energetic city rich in history and culture making it Peru's cultural and business center.

Caught in a coastal fog known as the garua, Lima takes on a dreamlike appearance. It is perfect for the explorer who likes to visit ancient archaeological sites and pre-Columbian temples, bask in the sun on the white sand beaches, paddle out to catch some waves, or visit the giant sand dunes just south of the city. Lima also offers excellent museums exhibiting Peru's rich heritage such as the famous Museum of Anthropology and Archaeology and the Museum of the Republic.

Lima is also home to many beautiful parks. The Plaza Mayor is the main square in Lima and is considered the "heart of the city" full of Creole flair and beauty. With so many parks, museums, ruins, old mansions, and churches to explore the adventurer will never be bored in this "City of Kings".

At night, the peacefulness that was during the day transforms into a lively bohemian scene full of live music, dancing, and excitement. Enjoy a variety of music from salsa, to Argentina rock, to Latin, to Jazz. There is enough international flavor in this city to satisfy everyone's tastes!
