Thanks to its central location in the country it's a great spot from where to explore many of the surrounding weekend destinations, the Andes, the Amazon Rainforest, the Ecuadorian Coast and the enchanting Galapagos Islands.

An exceptional way of getting to know Ecuador's culture and local people is by combining your Spanish course with a Service Learning Project: work in a social or ecological project such as a local university, primary school, orphanage, nursery or indigenous community, or participate in a reforestation project on the exotic Galapagos Islands. This first-hand experience will add a priceless bonus to your curriculum and help you build up character strengths of tolerance, global perspective and cultural sensitivity.

Besides regular classes students participate in cultural seminars, field trips, dance and cooking classes. Afternoon activities are arranged to local sights such as the Mitad del Mundo (Equator), Pichincha Volcano, Papallacta Thermal Springs, local markets and museums as well as soccer games, movie nights etc. We organize you trips, tours, transport and accommodation anywhere in Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia.

Methodology

The focus of Academia Latinoamericana - Equatorialis University is on communication and our methodology involves a natural approach to the Spanish language. Classes are dedicated to oral and written comprehension and expression as well as vocabulary and grammar studies. We guarantee that there are never more than 5 students in a group, often even less. On the first day each student passes a written and oral placement test. There are nine levels of proficiency from beginner to superior and throughout the course students are tested on a weekly basis, so everyone continues gradually according to their own pace and personal effort.
