CIEE Winter Intensive Language and Culture Program in Sao Paulo, Brazil

The goals of the Intensive Language and Culture program are to develop a higher level of Portuguese language fluency and critical appreciation of Brazilian life and society. This is achieved through the academic program and immersion activities including the home-stay and cultural activities through the city and stae of Sao Paulo. Academic Program This 4-or-5 week program, established in 1989, offers students an opportunity to focus intensively on Portuguese language acquisition and critically study contemporary Brazilian life and society. The program is ideal for students interested in Latin America who want to become familiar with the language and culture of one of the most important countries in the region. Academic Culture Class size is small and includes both lectures and excursions. Classes are held at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo. All instruction is by native Brazilians, and efforts are made to integrate the program participants with Brazilian students.
